By Laura Jayne Like 0 Support 3 Is anyone else vaping to quit smoking? Last night I read the new report on vaping and I’m just feeling a bit stuck in a cycle, I now feel I have no need for smoking which is great but now I am vaping, which even after reading the report I have to think it’s still better than smoking, I have gone from 6mg/ml to 2mg/ml and feel fine, hoping to get the nicotine out completely but have I just moved on to the next thing I have to try and quit? If I do stop vaping will I not not what to do in the morning, in my breaks, after I eat? Will I start smoking again? Don’t get me wrong I am fine in my journey to being a non smoker these are just concerns that flash through my mind when I read things like that report. I was in some ignorant bliss that if I couldn’t stop vaping then I was happy to do it for the rest of my life to not be a smoker, but I guess the reality is that as long as I am still inhaling something into my lungs my body won’t thank me for it. Interested in peoples thoughts about vaping, I have saved over $800 in a month making the switch and I have tried all other nrt products to quit smoking in the past, not looking for people to talk me out of vaping as I’m confident I will start smoking again if I stop using it to quickly but no vaping research or reports have comments from actual people who do it. I have just replaced one addiction with another 😢. I am going to quit vaping, my quit date is Monday. It seems some people are able to moderate their Nicotine intake but I am unable to, so my only option is to get rid of it completely. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones with some modicum of self control, but I can see that I am not one of them. Good luck on your journey. I will need all the support I can get when I quit on Monday, and hoping to find it here on this site. Moo said: 17 February 2018 I switched to vaping. Started on 6mg nic. I feel now I’m ready to drop it down too which is a bit exciting. I’m on day 28 today, so 4 weeks. I wouldn’t have done it without vaping. I find some days I vape much more than others, but they would he my 30+ a day high stress days. But I also really enjoy it, so the likelihood me giving it up could be an issue. But I still feel I’m better off vaping over smoking. And I think I’ll cross that bridge when I’m on 0mg nic juice and it’s not the first thing I think about, the cravings have gone and a relapse isn’t on the cards. Good luck with your journey, you are doing great and keep up the good work. It’s a gradual process and dont forget Rome wasn’t built in a day 😉 Blondene said: 17 February 2018 baking is a very debatable topic…I vape and I have read reports that it’s dangerous and the nicotine is the main culprit…you can switch to zero nicotine ejuice …but there’s the other side that say it’s safer than smoking ..its your personal choice and opinion that matter as it’s your quit…do what you feel is right for you! In a recent news story that we shared, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced that the Federal Drug Administration plans to move forward with plan to limit products and put a flavor ban on eliquid. I know that many of you are probably upset by this, as you should be. This is a typical U.S. government knee jerk reaction to ‘save the children’. According to the article, his decision is based on a CDC Survey that was conducted in 2016. According to the survey, 31% of teens claim that the reason they vape is because of the availability of fruit and candy flavors. Many professionals in the vape industry question the validity of said survey to begin with. Now, the FDA is using that survey as the basis for policy? I am not embarrassed to admit that I started smoking cigarettes when I was 15 years old. That was way back in 1982, and I can promise that the availability of flavors had no impact on my silly decision to start smoking. So, I ask the question? Are there more teens vaping/smoking today compared to 1982 or any other date previous to the introduction of electronic cigarettes? I seriously doubt it and as a matter of fact, I would be willing to bet that overall the numbers are down, even if you combine the totals of teen smokers AND vapers. The reality of life is that teenagers ARE going to make stupid decisions. Do we need a nanny state to mitigate these decisions or do we need parental involvement in their children’s lives? We have always followed the rules in regards to selling our products to minors. We were the first vape shop in our markets to ban anyone under the age of 18 in our retail stores (not a popular decision, but the right one) even before it was a law in Florida. We have also stopped many underage sales from our website through diligent age verification (years before it was required). What I find to be the highest level of hypocrisy in FDA’s decision to ban vape flavors is the overwhelming abundance of fruit and candy flavored alcohol that is currently on the market. So, my question to FDA is this….if fruit and candy flavored eliquid will encourage children to start vaping/smoking, then by that logic, won’t fruit and candy flavored alcoholic beverages encourage children to start drinking? The FDA has announced that they will soon open up a window for public comments, and I strongly encourage all vapers to voice their opinions on vape flavors. Would you be happy if the only flavor you could vape would be a tobacco flavor? We will certainly be weighing in and back our comments with 7 years of sales data showing what flavors have been the most popular for our customers. As soon as FDA releases information on how you can comment, we will pass that along. Let’s join together and fight this government overreach!
